Track Day / Motorsport Storage & Transit Insurance

Theft is covered under your policy following a forcible and / or violent act. In other words, it is clear that someone has targeted the stolen item. In the policy wording (page 9), we define theft as: Theft or attempted theft caused by forcible and / or violent means. This is an act that would cause physical damage as a consequence of forcible and violent actions (entry by the use of any force accompanied by a violent physical act) for the theft cover to apply.

Therefore, bikes that just disappear because someone has been opportune and just walked off with them would not be covered unless there was CLEAR evidence the thief had targeted the bike and applied some physical exertion to liberate the bike.

Bikes that are just left in a pit garage / paddock and left unattended / not securely shackled for someone to simply wheel away is an unreasonable risk to expect insurers to accept so this is the policyholder's risk.

The same applies if left hidden within an awning over night. Put it inside the trailer, lock it to the trailer, and secure the trailer so the thief has to work damn hard or just give up! This is a useful read in respect of trailers but the same philosophy applies to the insurance of other vehicles: How to Properly Protect Your Trailer?

This is a very simple, but effective deterrent to thieves and makes the insured equipment identifiable to the police in such a way that is extremely difficult for the thief to overcome, and as a result his risk level becomes unacceptably high. Datatag has made a major impact on reducing theft and has a 100% successful prosecution rate. Datatag is Thatcham Q listed and is a winner of International Frontline Award for security.

No. There is a Datatag Warranty on your policy. All insured equipment and trailer are to be identified with DATATAG security and identification markings. This must be completed within 21 days of policy inception and the Datatag registration form must be completed and returned to Datatag within this time. Additional information can be found on our website about Datatag. Failure to do so will automatically result in all theft cover being suspended until such time all insured equipment has been datatagged and the appropriate registration form returned to Datatag.
